I am Dr Gráinne McMahon, a sociologist, researcher, campaigner and activist.
And I offer research, evaluation and campaigning consultancy.
Awarded a DPhil (PhD) in Law (sociology focus) from the University of Oxford (Christ Church) in 2009, an MSc in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the Queen’s University, Belfast (1999), and a BSc (Hons) in Social Psychology and Sociology from the University of Ulster (1998).

Twenty-five years’ experience in research, evaluation, campaigning and advocacy
- I have twenty-five years of experience in academic research and evaluation; charity/ third sector research, evaluation and rights campaigning; and policy- and change-focused work:
- participatory action researcher and co-production methodologist
- theory-driven research; social justice, social movements and remaking democracy; programme/ initiative research, development, evaluation and ‘theories of change’; and research-focused activist campaigning, and activist campaigning-focused research in the community
- I am a highly respected researcher/ evaluator in rights, activism and participation; social movements, policy and change; and support advocacy and empowerment work with marginalised groups:
- migrants and people who have been displaced; girls and young women; young people with neurodiversity; people living in poverty; and social justice advocates and activists

- The EU’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation project, the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, the ESRC, the National Lottery Community Fund, the Lankelly Chase Foundation, the Tides/ Ben and Jerry’s Foundation, Paul Hamlyn Foundation, and various national and international universities
- And a proven track record of project delivery and outputs:
